Wyoming Medication Donation Program

Donate Meds 

Acceptable donations of unused medications can be re-dispensed to low-income Wyoming residents who lack adequate prescription coverage and cannot afford their medications.  Donations unacceptable for re-use in the U.S. are donated to missions if possible or will be disposed of safely via incineration.  All medication donations are sorted by the WMDP staff. 

What We Accept 

We Accept: 

*Sealed and in date prescription and over-the-counter medications
*Sealed and in date creams, ointments, inhalers, patches, injectables
*Unused medical supplies (diabetes test strips, ostomy & wound care supplies, etc.)

We DO NOT Accept:

*Controlled substances (e.g. medications for pain, sleep, anxiety, or ADHD)

We Can Dispose:

*Refrigerated medications
*Open packages
*Expired medications

Frequently needed medications include:

*Medications for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, mental health, and seizures, antibiotics, warfarin and inhalers.

How to Donate  

Step 1. Collect all unused medication.  Remove or mark out patient identifying information (name, address, phone number, and prescription number).  Be sure to leave the drug name on the container! 


Step 2.  Review the categories of acceptable medications above to be sure your items may be donated for re-dispensing.  Please call us at 1-855-257-5041 if you have questions.  Unacceptable donations will be incinerated.  We cannot dispose controlled substances!  Dispose at home or at a Drug Drop Box located in WY law enforcement office.  (See Medication Disposal below for more information).


Step 3.  Complete a Donor Form.


(e.g. nursing home, physician office, hospice, etc.)

Medication Disposal

Medications not acceptable for donation may be disposed of at a Drug Drop Box located in law enforcement offices.  Do not take donations to the DEA Take Back or Drug Drop Box, all collections are destroyed.
