Welcome to the Wyoming Department of Health Office of Pharmacy Services
Wyoming Medicaid, also known as “EqualityCare” is a federal-state funded program that provides health and long-term care coverage to low-income children, parents, seniors and people with disabilities. Prescription drug coverage is just one of the services provided under the Medicaid umbrella, and is a mandatory service for child populations, but an optional service for adult categories of service. The Office of Pharmacy Services is committed to providing quality health care for EqualityCare clients as well as all Wyoming citizens.
In addition to administering the multi-faceted Wyoming Medicaid Prescription Drug Program, the Office of Pharmacy Services oversees many other programs related to prescription drug services. These include:
The Prescription Drug Assistance Program (PDAP)
PDAP is a state-funded medication assistance program providing three (3) prescriptions per month with a co-pay of $10 for a generic drug and $25 for a brand-name drug.
The Medication Donation Program
Legislation was passed by the Wyoming Legislature in 2005 allowing unused medications to be donated to participating donation sites for distribution to Wyoming residents who cannot afford to buy their needed medications.
The Wyoming PharmAssist Program
Wyoming PharmAssist is a state-funded program providing any Wyoming citizen, regardless of age or income, with an opportunity to meet with a Wyoming-registered pharmacist for a one-on-one medication consultation. A Wyoming-registered pharmacist will meet with you to discuss:
- Your current medical picture
- Any problems or concerns regarding your current drug regimen
- Present any appropriate possible cost-saving alternatives to you, including generic substitutions, pill splitting, information on pharmaceutical manufacturer drug assistance programs, as well as other community resources.
The Pharmacy Lock-In Program
The Pharmacy Lock-In Program was initiated to address serious issues related to recipients with a documented history of obtaining excessive quantities of prescribed drugs, specifically controlled substances, through multiple visits to physicians, pharmacies and emergency rooms. This program helps protect the health and safety of clients, reduces duplication of services by providers, and avoids inappropriate and unnecessary utilization of prescription medications. Recipients who meet evaluation criteria will be required to utilize one pharmacy for filling all of their Medicaid prescriptions.
