American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) 

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is an Act of Congress enacted by the 111th United States Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009.  The act is intended to provide a stimulus to the U.S. economy.  The act includes but is not limited to federal tax cuts, expansion of unemployment benefits and domestic spending in education, healthcare, and the energy sector.  The act of 2009 is much larger than the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, which consisted primarily of tax rebate checks.

 

ARRA not only provides hundreds of billions of dollars in new health and healthcare spending but also makes comprehensive reforms in health law and policy, particularly in the area of health information law, including health information technology (HIT) adoption and health information privacy. This legislation will create new laws and change laws already in place.

As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA),the Wyoming Department of Health has created this webpage for your use and convenience.  We will keep Wyoming citizens informed regarding information related to health in our state as it may apply to the ARRA.  We will provide transparency for our departmental transactions, as well as inform our citizens of opportunities within the stimulus package that may be available outside of this department.
