Diabetes and Wyoming Schools
This web page is dedicated to helping Wyoming school personnel and Wyoming families navigate the resources available for assisting students with diabetes in the school setting.
A PowerPoint slide program entitled Diabetes 101 can be requested from the Wyoming Diabetes Prevention and Control Program by calling (307) 777-6011. The program requires PowerPoint 2007. The animated slide program, with written script, gives an overview of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in simple to understand terms. There is no cost for the CD to be mailed to any Wyoming school personnel.
Helping the Student with Diabetes Succeed – A guide for school personnel
This resource was developed by the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP), a joint partnership between the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; in cooperation with more than 200 partner organizations. The guide includes an overview of diabetes, actions plans for school personnel, sample tools for effective diabetes management in schools, summary of school responsibilities under federal law, a list of resources for more information, and a glossary of diabetes terms.
