Streptococcus pyogenes is the causative agent of “strep” throat. Throat infection with Group A Streptococcus may lead to rheumatic fever and/or acute glomerulonephritis if not treated properly.

Acceava Strep A Rapid Chromatographic Immunoassay for the detection of Strep A antigen.

SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS
|
Collect throat swab using a rayon swab. Reinsert swab into paper sheath. Label the sleeve with patient name or identifier.

SHIPPING REQUIREMENTS
|
Ship according to regulations for diagnostic specimens. Complete and enclose WPHL test request form.
|
|
DAYS TEST PERFORMED
|
Daily, Monday – Friday.
|
|
RESULTS AVAILABLE
|
Upon completion.
|
|
REPORTING & INTERPRETATION
|
Specimens are reported as Positive or Negative. All Positive results are called to the submitter. Printed reports are mailed to the submitter upon completion. |

No confirmatory culture is done.
