Policy for Recertification / Recovery Testing
Recertification
EMT's may take the recertification test in Cheyenne at the Emergency Medical Services Office located at 6101 Yellowstone Road, Suite 400, Cheyenne Wyoming. EMT's planning on testing at the EMS Office will need to schedule a specific time with the EMS staff. EMT - Basics need to schedule their testing no later than 3:00 p.m. Those taking the advanced level (EMT Intermediate and paramedic) no later than 2:00 p.m. All EMT recertification testing must be completed inclusively between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. Please allow yourself time to complete the test without being rushed.
Submission of recertification documentation for all levels should be sent (postmarked) between October 3rd & December 1st. Recertification materials must be submitted postmarked no less than thirty days (30) prior to the expiration and no greater than 90 days prior to expiration.

Recertification Testing Site Information
The OEMS staff proctors are busy during testing times. The following updates to the testing sites will facilitate the recertification process at testing locations:
- There will be no reviews of the test after the answer sheet is submitted and graded.
- All test materials must be submitted to the proctor (includes scratch paper for calculations, etc.)
- A percentage score will be provided when the test is graded.
- Passing score is 80%. Any score below 80% will require a retest. The retest may not be taken on the same day.
- The recertification test may only be taken twice.
- Please notify the proctor and mark the answer sheet if this is a retest.
- Please wait for the proctor to call your name to receive the test score.
- Use the back of the answer sheet for any calculations.
- Calculators may be used during testing. Calculators on cell phones may not be used.
- Cell phones should be turned off during testing. If there is a important family issue/emergency that requires a person to be readily available by cell, please advise your testing proctor.
- Radios and pagers must use the lowest volume as to not disturb others taking the test.
- EMT Intermediates, please know what modules you are authorized to test on (especially for re-tests).
- Testing is only by OEMS proctors.
- Use the restroom before starting the test or between tests.
- Please be respectfull of others takign the recertification test(s). When completed with the test, please leave the area before conversing with others. It is the goal of the OEMS proctors to provide you with the least amount of distractions during the recerficicaiton test.
- Do not write in the test booklets. If writing is observed in the test booklets, please notify the proctor.
- If a testing location becomes over crowed (no seats available), please be patient and wait for another person to complete their test.
- If a reader for the test is needed, it is recommended to take the test at a latter time. Notification must be made to the OEMS with the supporting documentation/diagnosis from a licensed health care provider for the use of a test reader prior to testing. The OEMS will approve or deny the use of a reader during testing.
The recertification test is not a learning tool. It is a test of your knowledge.
